The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is a 37 – member, intergovernmental economic organization that discusses and develops eco – socio policy. OECD members are democratic countries that support free-market economies. As of 2017, the OECD member countries collectively comprised 62.2% of global nominal GDP. Founded in 1961, its stated goals include fostering economic development and cooperation, combatting poverty, providing a platform to compare policy experiences and ensuring the environmental impact of growth and social development is always considered. The OECD is an official United Nations observer organization.
